During the building of my childhood home, I recall hearing my parents discuss the fact that the well had to be drilled deeper than expected. While there may have been a few factors involved, ultimately, the reason for digging deeper was to ensure the water we’d be drinking would be safe, and pleasant smelling and tasting.
If you are a fearful flyer like I am, you may have learned that many times turbulence can be avoided when the cruising altitude is higher.

Raising a challenging child or a “terrible” teen requires us to drill down deep to find the good stuff — the resources, answers, strength, motivation, and hope necessary to do our best parenting or, sometimes, to simply keep going.
Conversely, in those moments when parenting requires us to work harder than we’d ever thought possible, we need the help only He can provide. In addition to resources and self-reflection, we need the strength and assurance God provides. He wants to help us raise His children.
